Linda Turcotte (Née Wolf)

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Linda Wolf, married name Linda Turcotte.

She passed away peacefully at St Mary's Hospital on Sept 7, 2021. She was in her 88th year.

She was the beloved mother of Robert and Mother-in-Law of Guillermina. She was the sister of Peter, sister-in-law of Gudrun and aunt of their son Robert; all of Bamberg, West Germany.

Predeceased by her devoted husband John Turcotte, Linda was born in Bamberg, West Germany on Sept 21, 1932.

She grew up during the turbulent times of World War II in Germany. She was only 7 when the war started and had to be strong from that early age. An ethic that stayed with her for all her life.

She came to Canada by boat from Germany in the mid 1953 when she was 21. She came here all alone,  just with another girl as a companion. The boat docked in Halifax and then she made her way to Montreal. She had been sponsored as a nanny by a banker in Montreal. After a few weeks, her companion decided she didn’t like it here and went back to Germany, but Linda stuck it out.

Later on, she befriended a German lady named Hilda who became a life long friend. Hilda went to see her in the hospital just before she passed.

She met John Turcotte while living at the boarding house owned by his parents. They were married on Sept 2, 1962 until John's unfortunate passing on January 12, 1988. They had one son, Robert.

She’s always worked very hard all her life, mostly as a cleaning lady.

Her experiences in life had made her a very strong woman with a great amount of endurance in all she did. Her brother had recently told her she must be made of iron. She had still been active, even when the pandemic broke out. Then, having to be stuck at home due to the pandemic, her health gradually began to decline.

She was very devoted to her family, her work and the people she worked for. She also looked after her apartment building and the one next door for many years. She was loved by all the tenants in those buildings. She was living at the same apartment on Durocher since 1962.

She was truly a remarkable woman who will enjoy life in Paradise on earth with her husband John in the near future.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held a Salon Funéraires Actuel at 4500 Verdun Street, Verdun, Quebec on Saturday September 18th, 2021 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Gifts of flowers are welcomed.
