To the family and friends of Charlene, please accept my deepest sympathies. Charlene was a wonderful woman with an absolute heart of gold. We worked together for several years and she was a dear friend throughout that period. She made us all laugh every day and was always supporting everyone around her. When times were tough, she would check in with me throughout the night and message me to sleep in, that she "had me". She was kind, and sweet, real and raw and her level of loyalty went unmatched. The way I saw her love was inspiring, and she quickly became family to me and many around her. She was a big kid at heart which led to countless shenanigans and hilarious adventures. Dirty dancing, water gun fights, the occasional spiked coffee and constant fun and LOVE. Rest in peace my dear friend.
To the family and friends of Charlene, I am finding it difficult to articulate the magnitude of impact Char had on the Steger family. I will never forget how she introduced herself to my mom and how they immediately hit it off. Char was raw! What you saw was what you got! She loved and cared for each person she connected with and was always available for a chuckle, a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on. At the end of our mom’s life, Charlene would visit regularly, hug often and hold mom’s hand, all the while reminiscing and bringing a smile to mom’s and my face. She was ready to welcome my aunt with open arms. She would always try to make the residents smile with her humour. Over the years, Char and I became friends, she would always check in to see how my aunt was even thought she left the Steger. I know she will be welcomed in heaven by many of the ones she cared for and now they will care for her. RIP my dear Char. Loved and respected! You were special 💔

To Charlene's family. Needless to say I was shocked to hear this horrible news. She was loved by all at Steger and she could be counted on for anything. She called me this past Wednesday just to gab. I thought it was so nice of her to call and see how I was since I did not live at Steger anymore.
Dear Charlene, it came as a great shock to hear the tragic news that you had passed away on Friday. We had just spoke early on Thursday morning as you have always done, reaching out to see how I was doing. You were one of a few coworkers that always wanted to make sure I was doing fine. That is what made you special at Steger. You dedication to your work and more importantly your passion and devotion you had for coworkers and residents and their families. They all loved you as did I. We spent many days just the two of us in the building and your work ethic was always outstanding. There was never a time that you did not take care of and take control of any situation allowing myself and others to do their jobs. The communication was a given and you knew just what to do. So many times you would ask’’ is there something that I can do for you and my reply was always-just keep doing what you always do. It made my job easy on those days. It will never be the same again without you. You will be missed by everyone. After 8 years at Steger you will certainly be greeted at the gates by many former residents. Say hi to all the residents up there in heaven from all of us and take good care of them as you always did. Your friend forever 🫶🏻🙏🏻💔 Bruce
