It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Doreen Olson Greer on November 2, 2023 at the age of 76 after two years of courageous battling with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew Olson and Dorothy Shufelt and the youngest and only sister of Leonard (Connie) and Gerald Olson. She was married to the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Greer, on June 6, 1970 and had a son (John) together. She was the sister-in-law of Dave Grier (Norrie), late Tom Horgan (Brenda) and Rita King. She was a grandmother to Valerie and was an aunt/great aunt to many nephews and nieces.

Doreen was a retired school worker and was a great cook. She was also an avid reader that she owned/collected more than a thousand books in their home. She also loved going to Thursday movies with her husband and close couple friends (Mark and Claudette Phillips). But above all, she had been a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 53 years, a loving and caring mother and mother-in-law to John and Viviane and a very loving, caring and doting grandma to her only granddaughter, Valerie. She had such a great heart that she found joy and fulfillment being a great home maker, caring for her family at all times. She was our star during special occasions like birthdays and Christmas. She also had such a great sense of humor that lightened up any conversations. She wished nothing but always goodness and joy for everyone. She will be greatly missed by her families and friends.

Our sincere thanks to the doctors especially Dr. Shieh and staff of GLEN, the nurses at CLSC especially Anderson, who took care of her and provided everything she needed until her last breath.

A memorial service will be held at Actuel Funeral Home on Monday, November 13 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Showing/wake from 5 pm to 7 pm and gathering downstairs with food and refreshments from 7 pm to 9 pm.
