Marietta Giagnacovo

1965-2024
It is with great sadness that we mournfully announce the sudden passing of Marietta Giagnacovo at the age of 58, in Montreal on January 7th, 2024.

Marietta had a beautiful heart and soul, and would not go a day without asking about her many dear relatives.

Marietta loved everyone. She was and enjoyed being with people. The simplest things made Marietta smile. She loved listening to music and reading autobiographies, from her favourite musicians such as Elvis and Jim Morrison to other memorable figures such as Lady Diana and Michelle Obama.  And then there was her passion for make-up and her effortless ability to apply it beautifully, adorning her gorgeous blue eyes with subtle shades of colour.

From a very young age Marietta battled with mental illness and the severe stigma around this disorder at that time, was heavy. It was misunderstood by many, yet Marietta’s love of those who stood by her remained strong, her smile helped her endure the difficult moments and allowed her to enjoy the simple things in life despite the hardships she endured.

In remembrance of Marietta’s life, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Canada.

She will be greatly missed by her sisters: Teresa (Bart), Giuseppina, nieces Eliana and Karina, She also leaves behind loving aunts, uncles and cousins both in Canada and Italy.

She is preceded by her father, Luigi Giagnacovo and mother, Maria Pasto.

Marietta will be forever in our hearts. May she now rest in peace.

A ceremony in her honor will be held at Actuel Funeral Services, 4500 de Verdun st., in Verdun, on January the 22th from 10am to 4pm.
