We mournfully announce the passing of Ralf Röser, 83, of Verdun, Quebec. Ralf passed away on March 29, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ralf was born on November 29, 1941, to Hans Röser and Eva Noetzel in Tilsit, Germany. After graduating from high school, he went on to travel the world as a Seaman aboard the S.S. Julian Hamburg ship. He would later go on to share his tales of adventure with us all. Many of these stories highlighted his love for the ocean and a passion for solving technical / mechanical problems.
After many years at sea, Ralf docked at the port of Montreal, where he would fall in love with his wife of 56 years Rita Gauthier.
It was 1968, when Ralf met Rita, and they wed in 1969, going on to have one child, Eva Röser and embracing and caring for his stepchildren: Thomas Bowden, Linda O’Connor, Marina Bowden, Karen Bowden and Alice Birch.
He would find his many skills as a machinist useful in his 37-year career as a head caretaker for YWCA. After retiring in 2006, Ralf spent his time caring for his wife and family, visiting friends and attending the Montreal Aquarium Society.
Ralf was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Reeh. He is survived by his eldest sister Ilse Wensky.
