Funeral Services Coordination Process
Why choose cremation?
While no one likes to think about their remains, the choice between burial and cremation is inevitable. We strongly encourage you to make this decision as part of your funeral arrangements to avoid placing them in the hands of your grieving loved ones.
The cost of cremation is generally lower than that of burial. Burial involves costs related to the selection of a coffin, the purchase of a cemetery plot and a headstone, and embalming prior to the viewing.
Note, however, that it is possible to bury the urn in a plot if you wish, making transport and burial easier than burial. Overall, funeral planning is simpler with cremation.
Finally, cremation remains the most environmentally friendly option. Embalming chemicals can contaminate water, and coffins can also contain contaminants. It's also a space-saving option.
How a cremation ceremony takes place
After death, the deceased is transported to the crematorium , and the transport attendant places them in the crematory container you have chosen. They then check the authorization documents and the death certificate , which must be signed by the doctor or coroner.
Cremation then takes place, with or without the family present, depending on your wishes. The technician will first ensure that the body is in good condition, then proceed with the cremation, which lasts approximately 1.5 hours, followed by 2 hours of cooling. The remaining bones will then be reduced to ashes.
Then, he will place the ashes in the urn and produce an identification token and a cremation certificate; the funeral home will then contact you to arrange for the delivery of the ashes.
Afterwards, several options are available: the funeral urn can be buried, displayed in a columbarium or at the family home. Scattering the ashes in nature, for example in a waterway, is a common choice.
