Jocelyn was born on October 23, 1954, in Canora, Saskatchewan, to her parents, Phillip Hitchie and Grace Bennett. She married André Deschamps on September 28, 1974, at Nativity Church in Cornwall, Ontario. Jocelyn was a loving mother to Noël and Alain and a devoted sister to Lisa and her four brothers.

Courageous at a young age, at 17 Jocelyn left her family home to start her own life. Jocelyn was known for her adventurous spirit, positivity, and bravery. After the passing of her husband, André, in 1989, she raised her children with unwavering love and dedication. She had various careers, including being a seamstress, and the second woman hired at her mining company. Later, she went back to school and became a high-profile project manager.

After their mother passed away, Joc also took in her dear sister Lisa, caring for her as her own child. The new family of four spent many special moments together.

Jocelyn loved good music, food, booze, and cherished moments under the warm sun. She was the proud owner of a mountain bike, a road bike, a tennis racket, and a kayak, all made with Carbon Fiber!

Her fun-loving and cheerful nature made her a joy to be around, and her presence will be deeply missed. Today, we honor the life of Jocelyn Hitchie and the love and light she brought into the lives of those around her.
