Neil Fyckes

1956-2024
Neil Fyckes (March 25th 1956) passed away on March 29th 2024 at St Mary’s Hospital, Montreal.

Neil was a proud Verdunite, Director of Hotel Security, (dedicated to working in hotel security for over 45 years), former volunteer EMT in Cote St Luc, Queen’s Scout, and Knight of Tamara. He leaves behind his beloved daughter Elayne (Joe Gillespie) and cherished granddaughter Ravyn. He will be greatly missed by his sister Joy, brother Keith (Louise Otmar), Marc Bibeault (Vanessa Loyer), coworkers and friends. Neil was predeceased in December 2022 by his wife of 43 years, Mary Anne (Cezar).

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the professional and compassionate staff at St Mary’s Hospital and Clinics – who provided Neil with health care for over 25 years.

Those wishing to pay their respects to the family may join them between 1pm and 4pm at the Radisson Hotel Montreal Airport, 6500 De la Côte-de-Liesse Rd, Saint-Laurent, Quebec H4T 1E3 for a Celebration of Neil’s life and dedication to his career in hotel security.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made by donating to his granddaughter Ravyn’s “Lace up for Literacy” upcoming charity run.

Each spring, since Ravyn was four, she laced up to raise funds for Literacy. Neil was one of her greatest supporters! The money she raised was used for various special events for her school.

This year, 100% of monies raised will be donated to Riverview Elementary School for their newest endeavour of building an ‘outdoor classroom’ in a park adjoining the school, directly across from Neil’s childhood home. Neil was a proud Papa, especially proud that his granddaughter attends Riverview (where he attended in the 1960’s and where his wife was on staff prior to her retirement), and that she continues his tradition of supporting causes he believed in.

Donations can be made by going directly to Ravyn’s fundraising page;

ELAYNE ! I am extremely saddened by the passing away of your dear Dad, NEIL. I have known your Dad, ever since I joined the Company 11 years ago, as I occasionally picked him up from the airport. He was a very soft spoken gentleman, but, definitely carried a lot of responsibility of SECURITY on his shoulders for 45 years ! Amazing indeed ! May NEIL's Soul Rest In Everlasting Peace ! My Deepest & Sincere Condolences To His Beloved Family ! DENNIS FONSECA ( Transportation Shuttle Service)
