It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Arthur Smith, a beloved husband, stepfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Ronald, aged 79, died in Montreal on September 14th 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.
Ronald was the devoted husband of Corinne Beaton, who predeceased him. He is survived by his first wife, Lynn Holinshead. He was a cherished brother to Barbara and a caring uncle to Karen (Ronan) and Eric (Stefanie), as well as a special great uncle to Andrew, Rory, Margot, and Alexander. Ronald took great pride in being a stepfather to Lisa and Pamela, and a loving Papa to Justin and Grace. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Agnes Smith.
Ronald was born on July 24, 1945, in the Weston neighbourhood of Toronto. He dedicated many years of his life to working for the CN Railway, where he made lasting friendships in both Toronto and Montreal. Known for his gentle spirit, Ronald touched the lives of everyone he met with his warmth, compassion, and humour.
The cremation will take place in Montreal, followed by a memorial service in Toronto. Details will be shared with family and friends.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Condolences to the family
My condolences to Barbara and Ron's family at this sad time. The kind, gentle young man I saw at nana's house when we were young seems to have kept these beautiful qualities throughout his life. It sounds like he lived his life well and left his indelible mark on his loved ones. May God bless Ron and dry the tears of his loved ones.
