Stephen Murphy

1963-2025
In Loving Memory of Stephen Murphy

January 16, 1963 – October 3, 2025

Stephen Murphy was a hardworking, loyal, and big-hearted man, deeply devoted to his family and friends. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, he was always the first to lend a helping hand, the kind of person whose quiet strength, humor, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Born on January 16, 1963, Stephen grew up in Verdun, Quebec, where he remained closely connected to his Irish roots and the vibrant community that shaped him. He was the beloved son of the late Patricia O’Brian and late Martin Murphy, and the cherished younger brother of Alan Murphy and brother-in-law of Louise Murphy.

Stephen shared a deep bond with Joanne Eberlin, the mother of his son Kyle, who embodied many of Stephen’s early memories of fatherhood and family. For the past twenty-five years, Stephen shared his life with Cindy Vardon, whom he loved dearly. Together, they raised his loving daughter, Michelle Vardon, and built a home filled with care, laughter, and devotion.

Stephen was a proud father to Kyle and Michelle, and a devoted uncle to Meagan and Martin Murphy. He will be forever remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Korey, Kenzie, Madison, Landon, and Shyanne, who carry forward his love, laughter, and enduring family spirit.

He was a proud member of the Irish community in LaSalle and Verdun, and will be fondly remembered for his connection to St. Willibrord Church and the people who knew him there.

A funeral service to celebrate Stephen’s life and share a moment with his family will be held at St. Willibrord Church, 351 Willibrord Street, Verdun, QC H4G 2T7. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon downstairs at the church.

Stephen will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, humor, and loyalty will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
