Adam Duncan Kinnear, 51, passed away unexpectedly on February 11th, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved him beyond words. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, coach, and friend will be felt for generations.
Adam was the devoted husband and partner of nearly 30 years to Judy, and the proud, loving father of Ethan (Katelyn), Liam (Lauren), and step-daughter Lisa. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He was a deeply proud Obi to his granddaughter Ava Rose, who held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his loving mother, Susan, and was predeceased by his father, Bruce, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters Amy (Chris) and Katie (Alan), along with many nieces, nephews, grand-niece and grand-nephews, whom he adored and supported wholeheartedly.
Family was Adam s greatest love. A close second was the island the family s cherished cottage where generations gathered and memories were made. Adam had been going there since he was a baby, continuing traditions passed down from his own father and carrying them forward with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was truly the light of the island. He would rise at the crack of dawn to fish in the quiet stillness of the morning sometimes alone, sometimes alongside his late father and spend the day tending to the grounds, making sure everything was just right, often with a beer in hand and a smile on his face. The island was more than a place to him; it was part of who he was.
Adam s love for his children shone brightest in the arenas and on the fields. He was a devoted hockey dad and coach, a steady presence at every practice, game, and tournament. He also coached baseball and was a pillar in the community, always willing to step up and give his time. Long after his own boys grew, he could still be found at the rink cheering on Ava and his nephew Arlow with the same pride and enthusiasm. He showed up always and that is something his family will carry with them forever.
A hardworking plumber, Adam worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He took pride in his work and never hesitated to lend a hand to family or friends in need. Whether it was a repair, a project, or simply someone who needed support, Adam was there. Dependable, generous, and steady, he lived his life with quiet strength and an open heart.
Adam s friendships were another cornerstone of his life. His passing has left a profound impact on the many friends he held close to his heart. He was the kind of friend who showed up without hesitation helping out with a smile on his face, offering his time whenever it was needed, or simply grabbing a couple of beers to watch a game together. He loved staying connected with his buddies, whether that meant gathering to cheer on his favourite teams or hopping online to play some games, sharing laughs and friendly competition late into the evening. The loyalty and love he gave to his friends was returned to him tenfold, and the community he helped build will feel his absence deeply.
In keeping with the selfless way he lived his life, Adam made the decision to become an organ donor. Through this final act of generosity, he will give two individuals the priceless gift of sight. Even in his passing, Adam continues to bring light into the world a reflection of the kind of man he was and the legacy he leaves behind.
Adam will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his loyalty to his friends, his booming laugh, early mornings on the water, long days on the island, and the countless hours spent at rinks and ball diamonds. He built a life rooted in love, tradition, hard work, and community.
Though we are heartbroken by his sudden passing, we are grateful for every memory, every lesson, and every moment we shared. His legacy lives on in his children, his granddaughter, and in the traditions he so lovingly carried forward.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
