In loving memory of Anthony Michael Airey
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Anthony Michael Airey, who left us on March 10th, 2026 at CHLSD Lachine in his sleep. He was born October 7th, 1941 in Hatfield, England to Sybil Catterell and John Airey.
He was an accomplished business man, President & C.E.O of Intamico Shipping Limited. Previous to that, at the young age of 18, he served in the Royal Navy - a year or so after he had a motorcycle incident with a large truck - after his long hospitalization he was unsure if he could continue in the royal navy because of the nature of his injuries but upon his final recovery he decided to enter the Merchant Navy as a Marine Engineer. He worked for a company called Denholms in Glasgow before starting his own company, Amacan Maritime. In 1986, Tony was a cofounder and partner in the creation of Enerchem Transport where he served as a director and Vice President of operations for its fleet of 8 chemical and oil tankers. In 1995, he sold his interest and relocated to the Bahamas to create a new shipping company.
He was a beloved spouse, parent, sibling and friend. He touched the lives of many with his big heart, great laugh,quick wit and his ability to liven up the room with his guitar (I'm sure we’ve all heard of the wild west show at least once or twice). He loved playing his guitar, sailing, spending time with family and friends and he did love working.
Anthony Michael Airey is survived by his spouses: Julie Simon, Sandra Howieson, Ginouse Dareus; his children: Ashley Airey, Michelle Heinsalo, Sharon Airey, Ethan Airey and his grandchildren: John-Anthony Monteith, Arlo Monteith, Ashley Heinsalo, Timo Heinsalo, Ethan Airey; and his sibling Valerie Airey
Anthony Michael Airey’s life will be celebrated on April 12th, 2026 at Service Actuel at 4500 rue de Verdun, Verdun, QC. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects.
