Danielle Poirier-Priffer was born on March 11, 1946 in Montreal, QC to Lucille Bilodeau and Jean-Paul Poirier, the fourth of nine children. On March 24, 2026 she passed away peacefully in Montreal after a prolonged illness.
A free spirit and nomad at heart, her favorite thing to do was travel to warm, sunny places, especially the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and the US. She had an eye for beauty and an eclectic style, appreciating fine clothes, high heeled shoes, jewelry, art, design and decor. Danielle loved to shop and had a special talent for gift giving. She found great joy when you were delighted or surprised by her unique finds.
Danielle is also remembered fondly for her exceptional cooking ability, from traditional comfort food and holiday specialties, to simple recipes highlighting her favorite ingredient, fresh tomatoes. She expressed love by generously sharing her creativity and joie de vivre.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, LeVonne D. Pannell (née Purchase) (Brian) and son Pierre H. Purchase, her adored grandchildren Douglas K. McDaniel, Jr. (DiAndra), Donovan I. Pannell, Haleigh C. Pannell, and Avery J. Pannell; her devoted sisters Francine Creswell, Diane Dupuis (Ronald), and Manon Auger (Christian); and brothers Real Poirier, Camile Poirier, Gilles Poirier, and Michel Poirier.; many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved older brothers Serge Poirier and Jean-Guy Poirier and her granddaughter and namesake, Danielle Hilary Purchase.
A Celebration of Life memorial gathering was held in May 2026 at her daughter's home.
